The San Diego Chargers were one of the few NFL teams who were unsure of its fate following the 2015-16 season. For the San Diego Chargers, it was unclear whether or not the Chargers would remain in San Diego or not. Well as of Friday afternoon, it looks like the Chargers will in fact remain in San Diego for at least the 2016 football season.

As recently as last week, it was reported that the city of Los Angeles, having already acquired the Rams from St. Louis, were working on a deal to get the Chargers to L.A. as well — the two teams would apparently share the new $2.6 billion Inglewood Stadium, which is expected to be completed in 2019.
However with the Charger' announcement of staying put in San Diego, also comes plans for a new stadium to be built. Chargers chairman Dean Spanos released a statement on Friday afternoon announcing the hope for a new one to be constructed.
"Today I decided our team will stay in San Diego for the 2016 season and I hope for the long term in a new stadium." The statement began.
"I have met with Mayor Faulconer and Supervisor Roberts and I look forward to working closely with them and the business community to resolve our stadium dilemma. We have an option and an agreement with the Los Angeles Rams to go to Inglewood in the next year, but my focus is on San Diego."
