When Notre Dame went away from scheduling several Big Ten teams, one of the big rivalries that closed was that between the Fighting Irish and Michigan — the two winningest programs in college football history.

Well, according to ND Insider, it looks like the two programs could be coming closer together to making a future schedule.
"I will tell you this, the relationship is good, and it started with Jim [Harbaugh] and coach [Brian] Kelly working together on a desire to play together," said Michigan interim athletic director Jim Hackett. While this doesn't represent a future game between the teams, it definitely does signify a return of what could potentially between a marquee game every year.
All time, the two teams have faced of 42 times. Michigan leads the series 24-17-1.
