Recruiting rankings are pretty fickle, but one thing is for sure: Miami had quite a bit of turnover in their 2016 recruiting class. This makes sense when a head coach is on the hot seat, and Al Golden was eventually fired, but 25 total decommits for Miami's in the 2016 recruiting cycle is A LOT.

SB Nation took a look at all of these decommits and came to one conclusion: that class might actually be better than the final list of signed commitments in 2016.
Overall, Miami had 25 decommits in 2016. Of those, 22 came before those recruits' senior seasons even started. Some decommitted, while others lost their offers.

Incredibly, that class of decommitted players would rank 22nd in the nation, according to the 247Sports class calculator — right behind Miami's current class at No. 21.
That's right, the class of decommits would be rated essentially the same by 247Sports when compared to the actual list of recruits that Miami wound up with. I am sure Miami will gain some stability in recruiting under new head coach Mark Richt, but that is still insane to think about when it comes to a school like Miami that generally has expectations to perform.
