Conor McGregor recently revealed that he had every intention of stepping into the ring for a highly anticipated exhibition boxing match against WWE star and social media influencer Logan Paul. However, the fight, which was supposed to take place in India, was shot down by the UFC.

During an interview with MMA personality The Schmo, McGregor detailed the plans that never came to fruition. "It is what it is," McGregor said. "The UFC just aren't into it. The offer was there on the table, in writing. Both athletes will say, 'He's not fighting,' but both [the UFC and WWE] are under the [TKO Group Holdings] banner. UFC and WWE, both rising up. The stock price of TKO Holdings is through the roof. New market in India has opened up and is booming. It was business savvy and business sense to make the fight happen."
McGregor explained that the timing of the fight made sense, given his current hiatus from the UFC due to injury. "In between this waiting period that we find ourselves in before I can get back to the Octagon, it made perfect sense on the calendar to go ahead with it," he said. "The UFC weren't into it. The WWE, I'm not sure what their interest in it was."
While McGregor and the Paul brothers have exchanged barbs for months, the potential fight has never materialized. After the boxing match was reportedly nixed by the UFC, Logan Paul announced he would shift his focus to the WWE full-time.
For McGregor, the fight against Paul was just another chapter in his road back to the Octagon. Although he hasn't fought since suffering a broken leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021, McGregor continues to insist he will return to action someday—despite a near-miss with UFC 303, where he withdrew from a scheduled fight with Michael Chandler due to a broken toe.
