Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao reportedly in talks for Netflix rematch

It's been nearly a decade since Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao met in one of the most-hyped boxing matches in history. Now, they just might be gearing up for a sequel.

According to Ring Magazine's Mike Coppinger, discussions are underway for a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch, with Netflix in talks to stream the fight. Yes, the same Netflix that turned the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson event into a global spectacle could be at it again.

Of course, this wouldn't be anything like their 2015 showdown, which drew record pay-per-view numbers and cemented Mayweather's 50-0 career. Both fighters are now well past their primes — Mayweather is 48, Pacquiao 46 — and neither has been an active professional for years.

Mayweather's last official bout came in 2017 against Conor McGregor, while Pacquiao's last win was back in 2019 over Keith Thurman.

Still, name recognition counts. In a sport searching for stars, Mayweather and Pacquiao are still among the few who can move the needle. And Netflix seems happy to trade pure competition for big-time entertainment value.

Next month, the streamer will host Jake Paul vs. Gervonta "Tank" Davis, another exhibition that was declined for sanction in Georgia but found a new home in Miami.

Pacquiao confirmed this week that talks for the rematch are real, even hinting that it could happen at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

It might not have the same global anticipation as the first one, but nostalgia sells. And a Mayweather-Pacquiao 2 would be impossible for fight fans to ignore.
