Jake Paul Calls out Canelo Alvarez After Shocking Victory Over Mike Tyson, Predicts 'Biggest Upset in History of Boxing'

Social media megastar Jake Paul squared off with former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in an eight-round bout on November 15 in one of the most anticipated fights of 2024. Although Paul was favored over the 58-year-old Tyson coming into this matchup, people still speculated whether Tyson could pull off the upset. Aptly nicknamed the "baddest man on the planet," Tyson is one of the most dangerous boxers ever. Still, Paul came out victorious.

Jake Paul Calls Out Canelo Alvarez After Win Over Mike Tyson

After the fight, Paul wasted no time in telling everyone who he wanted his next opponent to be, as he called out boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez in his post-fight interview.

"Canelo needs me, so I'm not even going to try and call him out," Paul said. "He knows he wants a payday. So, he knows where the money man is at."

He later added that if the two were to meet in the squared circle, he would pull off the upset.

"He's going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the (stuff) I've been talking about beating Canelo is true and I'll have the biggest upset in the history of boxing. We'll fight to really see who is the face because, after this event, I'm going to be claiming it," he added.

Boxing Star Sounds Off on Full Circle Moment

Despite the disappointment in the aftermath of the fight, it wasn't as much of a disappointment for the fighters personally. In fact, it was a full-circle moment for Jake Paul. Paul's rise to boxing stardom began after he knocked out former NBA Slam Dunk Champion Nate Robinson in 2020. That was the undercard matchup before the main event of Tyson and Roy Jones Jr's bout. Paul called the full circle moment a "testament," to everything he has accomplished.

"It's crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson's undercard," Paul said.

"Now, less than four years later, I'm stepping up to face Tyson. To see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing's most notorious fighters and biggest icons. Within just two and a half years of founding MVP, we're about to produce the biggest fight in history.

"A fight in the biggest NFL stadium in the US, broadcast live, on the biggest streaming platform in the world. A testament to all we've accomplished in such a short amount of time."
