Evander Holyfield Challenges Mike Tyson to Fight
Real Deal called out Tyson for a trilogy fight in an Instagram post with the caption, "The fans want it."
The boxing giants have met up twice in their careers, with Holyfield coming out on top both time. Their first matchup in 1996 saw Holyfield reclaim the WBA heavyweight title in what was widely regarded as one of the biggest upsets in boxing at the time.
The pair met up again the following year in a rematch that infamously ended with Tyson biting off a chunk of Holyfield's ear and losing by disqualification.
Boxing Trilogy Seems Unlikely
The prospect of a third appears unlikely, though, after Tyson wrote "I love you brother, but the trilogy is our friendship," in the comments under Holyfield's post.
Mike Tyson jumped back into the ring Friday night for his much-anticipated bout with YouTuber Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. The former world heavyweight champion failed to keep up with the young internet personality, connecting with just 18 punches in the whole fight and ultimately losing by unanimous decision.
Holyfield stopped by Tyson's locker room on Friday night and embraced his former adversary ahead of the match.
With all of the history between these two gladiators, it will be interesting to see if this fight ever comes to fruition. Tyson is 58-years-old but after his loss to Jake Paul last weekend, he didn't appear to be calling it quits just yet. In fact during the interview he called out Jake's brother, Logan.
