Ryan Garcia Charged With Vandalism In Beverly Hills Hotel Incident

Boxer Ryan Garcia has received a misdemeanor vandalism charge which stems from damages he caused to the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills hotel back in June. Evidently in rage, and maybe due to being intoxicated, the 25-year-old demolished the hallway and his room, causing an estimated $15,000 in repairs.

For this exact offense, destruction of property (over $400), Garcia could be facing up to 12 months in prison.

In regards to this incident, L.A. County District Attorney, George Gascón, gave a statement.

"While we are grateful no injuries were reported in this incident, reckless behavior that damages property shows a blatant and unacceptable disregard for the safety and peace of our community," Gascón said. "Our office will work to ensure the responsible individual is held accountable."

Garcia's court date is currently held for August 7.

To point out, this is just one of many current problems for the superstar boxer, who was recently banned by the WBC for making controversial racial comments on a livestream. Not to mention, this came off of Garcia being suspended one-year after testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug, ostarine, following his April 20 victory over Devin Haney.

That is to say, Garcia had previously announced his professional boxing retirement with a record of 24-1-0 (20 knockouts).

"Ya'll know I've been dealing with incredible stress, pressure and now the devastating news of my mom's health," Garcia said in a statement via his publicist.

Garcia has been open about his personal problems, citing mental health issues after his mom was diagnosed with cancer.

The boxer's manager, Lupe Valencia, also released a statement after his initial arrest in June.

"Ryan has been open about his struggles with mental health over the years and at this time he is dealing with an immense emotional burden... The support and understanding from fans and the public are crucial as he navigates these personal challenges."

"We are working diligently to provide Ryan with the resources he needs," Valencia continued. "Our team is committed to ensuring that he receives the appropriate help and care to address both his immediate and long-term well-being."

Garcia has stated that he will be going to a rehabilitation center.

"I finally decided to get some help. I'm going to rehab and in the next couple of months, you're going to see a change. I've got to handle some things, but after that, yeah, I'm going to check myself into rehab and get better."
