Tyson Fury: Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Appears 'Pretty Even'

Some people are a little worried about the looming bout between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and legend Mike Tyson. After, Tyson will be 58 years old when the fight takes place in July.

Meanwhile, Paul is 27. He has one loss as a professional, and that came to Tommy Fury, one of the best in the business. Few took Paul seriously as a boxer before that. But while Paul lost on a decision, it may have been his most impressive fight to date.

It left Tyson Furry, Tommy's brother, impressed. And Tyson Fury thinks the Paul-Tyson match could be a good one.

At the very least, it will bring eyeballs and conversations to the sport, with the July 20 fight streaming for free on Netflix.

"I think it's fantastic for boxing," Fury told The Stomping Ground. "You've got a legend in Mike Tyson. You've got a YouTube boxer [Jake Paul]. He has come into the game and blew it up and he's got millions of followers and millions of views and millions of eyes. Good, bad or indifferent. Some people love him, some people hate him. So, I think it's a really good spectacle for boxing. Brings a lot of people to the game."

Paul enters the fight at 9-1, his first being a stone-cold knockout of former NBA star Nate Robinson. Tyson is 50-6 lifetime with 44 knockouts to his name. But most came in the 1980s and '90s.

"Listen, who am I to say, 'Oh, Mike Tyson shouldn't be boxing or Jake Paul shouldn't be boxing, good luck to 'em. They're both gonna make what I call a s*** ton of money out of it. So, isn't that what it's about?

"[They're fighting at] a great stadium," Fury said of the fight at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. "It'd be fantastic for the guys both getting paid, both gonna put on a show. I just don't know what's not to like. Oh, okay, [Tyson's] 57 years old, but he's a former undisputed world heavyweight king, and [Paul] plays computers for a living and he's come to boxing about a year ago. So, pretty even match."
