The cause of death is not known at this time, but not too long ago Francis had passed "a battery of health screenings, including heart and lung evaluations."
"None of these tests indicated health concerns," Dean said. "Out of respect for the family, we have no plans to comment further at this time."
The school held a memorial service and canceled Wednesday's classes. Then Mobile's game vs. Southern University at New Orleans was postponed.
Mobile is 6-0 this season and are currently ranked No. 24 in the NAIA poll.
In the team's last game on Saturday night, Francis had 10 points off the bench, contributing to a 81-49 win over No. 20 Life University.
