Adrian Wojnarowski just dropped the final Woj Bomb of his career, and it's a doozy. The longtime ESPN NBA reporter known for being the first to uncover the most significant news around the Association announced his retirement from the media. He will now head to his next chapter as the General Manager of the St. Bonaventure men's basketball program.
This marks a homecoming for Woj, who graduated from the college in 1991 along with his wife.
"I'm thrilled and humbled to return to St. Bonaventure with an opportunity to serve the university, Coach Mark Schmidt and our elite Atlantic 10 men's basketball program," Wojnarowski said in a press release. "In these changing times of college sports, I'm eager to join a championship program that combines high-level basketball, national television exposure, pro preparation and NIL opportunities with an intimate, supportive educational environment."
The move to walk away as the Senior NBA Insider from the sports Mecca in Bristol is a surprising one considering his lucrative salary there. That being said, many fans are already predicting a rise in the program.
"St. Bonaventure is going to become a real recruiting destination in NCAA," one user on X wrote. "Elite HS recruits top priority is likelihood of getting drafted & now you've got [Adrian Wojnarowski] in your corner if you go there. Upgrades to facilities will come with his affiliation. Coolest story from NLI yet."
Sounds like Woj about to get St Bonaventure them real NIL deals

Another fan commented on X, "Woj's transition from reporting to building a program is a game-changer. St. Bonaventure just gained a major asset on and off the court!"
Then there's some spectators who wonder if this is just the first step for Woj to become something bigger. Could he be eyeing up an executive position in the NBA? Some fans speculate that this could be the perfect launching pad for his next venture.
Woj may be done with NBA media, but I don't think he is done with the NBA
This GM role at St. Bonaventure seems like a trial run for a bigger job offer that could come in the next 6 - 12 months in the NBA
Keep an eye on Portland @GL8BAL_SPORTS

"Woj is gonna be the GM of your favorite NBA [team] within the next 10 years," another X user commented.
Last season, St. Bonaventure finished 20-13 (9-9). In the 2021-22 season, they advanced to the NIT semifinals. The move to bring in Adrian Wojnarowski is a bold one for the Bonnies, but there's a ton of upside he brings with this low-risk, high-reward move.
