According to AL.com, guard Aden Holloway was arrested on Monday on a charge of first degree possession of marijuana. This is a felony in the state of Alabama. He was transported to Tuscaloosa County Jail on Monday morning before being bonded out on $5,000.
The outlet reports that the West Alabama narcotics task force found more than a pound of marijuana, paraphernalia, and cash in a residence on the 400 block of 30th Avenue East. Police also charged Holloway with failure to affix a tax stamp, another felony.
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Holloway started his college career at rival Auburn in 2023. He appeared in 35 games as a freshman and posted a .318 field goal percentage.
Holloway moved to the University of Alabama as a sophomore and appeared in 37 games. He made 46.5% of his field goals and 41.2% of his three-point shots.
This season, he has appeared in 28 games while averaging 43.8% on three-point attempts while earning All-SEC honors. He is the team's second-leading scorer while averaging 16.8 points per game.
Alabama enters March Madness as the fourth seed. The team (23-9) will first face off with Hofstra, which enters March Madness as the 13th seed. If the Crimson Tide wins, they will advance to face either five-seed Texas Tech or 12-seed Akron.
