John Calipari is a legendary recruiter and has been known to get almost any five-star recruit he wants. And even when he doesn't get the one he wants he goes out and gets another to replace him. This has naturally gotten him a bad rap with some other coaches who are either jealous or annoyed with his recruiting abilities.

With the fall recruiting period just starting, Coach Cal took his recruiting talents on a trip all over the country and gave us a little insight into where he was and what he was doing.
That's some good narrative from Calipari there and he does genuinely like all of the kids he brings into his program so there's no reason not to believe he means that. However, he then proceeded to take down all those coaches out there who are negatively recruit against him and it was blistering.
Calipari has had 18 one-and-dones go the NBA Draft and those same guys were drafted in the first round so he knows a thing or two about successful recruiting and connecting with his players.
