Arizona State guard Torian Graham says when he flipped off the Arizona Wildcats students section before their game Thursday night, he was reacting to racial slurs he heard emanating from the crowd.

After ASU got smoked by 16th-ranked Arizona 91-75, Graham, who scored 18 points in the game, tweeted out an apology, which he later deleted.

"I apologize for my actions," the Tweet read. "There was racial slurs said, and I didn't react the right way as I should. My apologies to the ASU program."

But the removal of the post, coupled with the fact that several students of color can be seen in video of the incident, casts doubt on the claim.

Nonetheless, university of Arizona spokesman Matt Ensor said that Graham's charges are under investigation.

"We are looking into it," Ensor told ESPN.com via text.

The two teams will face off again in the season finale, and we could see some fireworks there.
