Kansas fans won't get to see Memphis transfer Dedric Lawson play this season as he's sitting out the year per NCAA transfer rules. However, they may not get to see him on the bench either as he's been suspended according to coach Bill Self. This is the coach's statement from the Topeka Capital-Journal:

"I've suspended Dedric temporarily because of an incident in practice. An altercation occurred and he didn't handle it well, and that's certainly the case with that, (why) I made that decision."
The 6'9" forward isn't off the team, but he won't be traveling with the team on its European trip to Italy in August. Lawson averaged 19.2 points and 9.9 boards for Memphis last season, but he and brother K.J. opted to transfer out of the program due to his family's inability to get along with head coach Tubby Smith.
That could pay huge dividends for Kansas and coach Self in the 2018-19 season assuming Dedric can learn his lesson from the altercation and stick with the team.
