Dick Vitale released his top five schools list earlier this summer and now he's got an updated "super seven" list that reflects some of the news that's happened since then. For instance, the signing of No. 1 overall recruit Marvin Bagley by Duke changed things and some other injury news as well. Here is his list in its entirety:
- Duke
- Arizona
- Michigan State
- Kentucky
- Kansas
- Louisville
- Wichita State
While the Shockers might be a bit of a surprise, a lot of other outlets and analysts are high on them as well and even think they could be the best team in their state —- sorry Kansas —- if not the country. However, it remains to be seen how long their best player in Landry Shamet could be out with his injury and how that might affect the team.
Duke should be fantastic assuming they have solid point guard play from five-star recruit Trevon Duval. Arizona is loaded and doesn't have any glaring weaknesses with the perfect blend of upperclassmen and talented freshmen. Michigan State has a a likely lottery pick in Miles Bridges and has more depth this year than coach Tom Izzo has been used to seeing in his injury-laden squads of late.
Kentucky will be one of the youngest teams in the country, but also one of the most talented so their issue will be getting it all together. Kansas has a good blend of upperclassmen and talented underclassmen as well, but is very thin in the frontcourt with only three big men available to play. Louisville is going to be sneaky good with the addition of five-star players Brian Bowen and Malik Williams.
