Duke cancels preseason trip after one of its most important pieces undergoes surgery

You hate to see this.

Duke was scheduled to go on a trip to the Dominican Republic this week, but the trip has been cancelled ahead of surgery for one of the team's most important members. Coach Mike Krzyzewski announced he is going to need knee surgery.

The surgery went well according to his doctor and it sounds like he should have a quick recovery:

The 70-year old coach has had a reminder just over the last year how old he is getting with several surgeries to alleviate different pains.

It remains to be seen how much longer Coach K can stay on the sidelines, but it's looking like that time might be coming to a close with all those surgeries just in the last year. He did bring in a top two recruiting class this year and has been excellent in that regard the last several years. But if he can't physically stay on the sideline and coach during games, it may not matter.
