Duke gets back star freshman in time for season opener

Duke needed some of this news.

Duke was in danger of having three of its star freshmen start the season out on the bench with injuries with Marques Bolden, Jayson Tatum and Harry Giles expected to miss extended time. However, it looks like Tatum may be back just in time for the season to start on Friday for the Blue Devils.

Tatum was ranked as the No. 2 player in the class of 2016 right behind teammate Harry Giles who is sidelined by a knee injury. Bolden has a foot injury and it seems his timetable for return is a little flexible right now. Tatum could potentially start with Grayson Allen, Frank Jackson, Amile Jefferson and Luke Kennard in a pretty small-ball lineup.
