Former Louisville standout to play in Summer League only months after almost losing his life

This is an incredible journey for the young man.

Kyle Kuric is a name that maybe only Louisville fans will likely remember, but his legend will spread after you hear this incredible story about him. After graduating from Louisville and averaging 8.3 points over his four-year career, Kuric played overseas and most recently with Gran Canaria in Spain. While playing there he started experiencing debilitating headaches and pain.

Kuric ended up receiving emergency surgery on his brain November 5th. It was so touch-and-go that his own mother didn't think he would make the flight back after the surgery:

"We weren't sure he would survive the flight back — getting on a commercial flight for 8-10 hours with no medical personnel — he would have been with his wife and the kids."

There was more surgery that would be required though as his brain started swelling and the pressure in his head rose and his heart started slowing. Doctors had to remove part of his skill so that the brain could swell safely and he was medically induced into a coma. There was then a third surgery to replace the part of the skull that was taken out with a plastic insert. Fortunately, he woke up a few days later and of course the first thing he asked about was getting back on the basketball court.

He's been working ever since then and it's paid off as he got an invite to play in this year's NBA Summer League:

It's one of the greatest comeback stories in basketball right now and hopefully Kuric can earn a spot to play for a team after Summer League ends. It's not likely he sticks with the Suns since they have so many guards as it is, but this is a good opportunity for him to showcase his skills and show he's worth taking a chance on in the big leagues.
