The fall recruiting period has begun for basketball and Kansas coach Bill Self and his staff are getting on top of some of the top recruits early. Two five-star forwards on the list are P.J. Washington out of Findlay Prep in Las Vegas and Troy Brown Jr. out of Centennial High also in Las Vegas.

Washington is the No. 2 power forward in the class of 2017 and Troy Brown is the No. 5 small forward in that same class according to ESPN. Both players are known for their versatility and it would seem that whichever one Kansas lands, the other will likely find a different home since their games are so similar.

Washington is a 6'8", 232-pound forward who can get up the floor, has a solid mid-range shot and is a great finisher at the rim. Brown will post up smaller defenders and has a nifty floater in his arsenal, but needs to tweak his shot a little as it has a low release point. Kansas would be lucky to get either of these players.

The staff has already visited guards Trae Young and Collin Sexton as well so they aren't hoping to land one big recruit and call it a class either. The Young visit went well according to Trae's father, Rayford. The Jayhawk coaches were there for two hours and it was a "big hit."
