LaVar Ball’s preferred landing spot for his son Lonzo may not even have interest in drafting him

Oh my.

LaVar Ball has been outspoken on the topic of where his son Lonzo should play in the NBA and who he's going to work out for as well. The California native wants the younger Ball to play for the Lakers and he will only work out for them during the pre-draft process.

President of Basketball Operations and Lakers legend Magic Johnson has said that he would draft Lonzo pretty much despite his dad's outlandish and childish behavior at times. However, Draft Express' Jonathan Givony has is reporting that the Lakers might give the nod with their second overall selection to a Kentucky point guard who outplayed Ball both times they met:

That word out of L.A. might be a little optimistic as well because the Balls would never agree to a head-to-head workout between Lonzo and Fox because they don't want to take any chances of Lonzo's stock dropping any more than it might. Fox bested Ball in their regular season matchup, but absolutely blew him out of the water in the NCAA Sweet 16 game. Fox had 39 points, four assists and three rebounds while Ball finished with 10 points, eight assists and three rebounds.

ESPN's Chad Ford has also heard that other teams are favoring Fox to Ball because of him skipping the NBA Combine and leaving that bad impression in the Sweet 16 game. From Ford's article on the draft:

"There also seems to be a growing movement among teams to rank Kentucky's De'Aaron Fox ahead of Ball. No one helped himself more in March than Fox did. He has a chance to go as high as No. 2 or No. 3 in this draft."

The NBA Draft is set for June 22 and will air on ESPN.
