LSU makes bizarre decision to end Ben Simmons' season and likely college career

This makes zero sense.

LSU (19-14) had a very bizarre and disappointing season after signing Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney to scholarships in 2015. The Tigers never really put a nice string of wins together and had a chance for a huge upset of Oklahoma, but fell just short thanks to some questionable coaching by Johnny Jones and bad injury timing.

The Tigers undoubtedly screwed themselves out of an NCAA Tourney bid, but could have very well played in another postseason tournament like the NIT or CBI, but LSU has other designs.

"We will be able to utilize this time to get better and start preparations for next season. We fell short of the mark of getting to the NCAA Tournament; I take full responsibility for this team, and will do the things necessary to make sure we are able to reach one of our main goals at LSU in the future," said LSU Head Coach Johnny Jones. Jones should be taking full responsibility because his schemes and inability to get Simmons the ball at crucial points in games was really quite infuriating to watch.

LSU laid an egg against Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament semifinals —- they lost 71-38 and gave almost no effort all game —- and the team likely won't have Ben Simmons again next year as he is expected to go No. 1 in this year's NBA Draft.
