R.J. Barrett is the top recruit in the class of 2019 according to ESPN and he could be reclassifying a year ahead to get to college a year earlier. ESPN recruiting guru Paul Biancardi said that is a real possibility and that he will consider the option after the spring and summer
R.J. Barrett the no.1 prospect in the class of 2019 told Espn that he will consider re-classifying to the class of 2018 after the spring and summer evaluation period. "When the EYBL season and the Canadian team competition is over I will sit down sometime in August with my dad (Rowan) and discuss the possibilities of re-classifying to the senior class. I understand that it's a big jump but I am open to the possibilities both academically and athletically."
The 6'7", 185-pound forward likely wouldn't take the top spot from power forward Marvin Bagley, but he would still probably be a five-star recruit and could be a top ten recruit for that class. The Canadian native and Montverde Academy (Fla.) standout currently has offers from Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC and Texas right now. That would certainly change if he becomes a member of the 2018 class as the timeline for a decision would obviously move up.
