LaVar Ball became one of the most polarizing figures in college basketball this year thanks to his big mouth and willingness to appear on any media that gave him a platform to speak on. He trashed other NBA Draft prospects while talking up his own son Lonzo to everyone that would listen.

He's also trying to get his own brand of basketball gear off the ground by wearing his "Big Baller Brand" clothing everywhere he goes. That might have been what sparked a Nike executive to absolutely destroy Ball in some criticism:
Wow, veteran Nike exec George Raveling on LaVar Ball: “The worst thing to happen to basketball in the last hundred years.” #sbjwcs

While Ball has been obnoxious and difficult to listen to all year —- and it's not going to get better as he has two more sons going through UCLA soon —- it's probably not quite fair to say that he's the worst thing to happen to basketball in 100 years. There was the cocaine-abusing and poor image of the league in the late 1970s that almost killed the game. But Ball running his mouth is definitely getting quite tiresome.
