No. 2 player drops a "smart" top 8 list

Certainly an eclectic choice of schools.

Wendell Carter Jr. isn't your normal top five recruit. While he does feature some of the blue blood programs on his list of top eight schools, he also some of the schools out there that can offer him an education the others don't. Carter is not only the No. 2 player in the country according to ESPN, but he is one of the smarter recruits on their list.

That's why it shouldn't come as a surprise that Georgia Tech, Cal-Berkeley and Harvard make his list as well:

The 6'10", 260-pound power forward was an absolute beast during the Nike EYBL season averaging 16.8 points per game while ripping down 10.2 boards and recording 2.5 blocks per game. He plays for Pace High School in Atlanta, Ga. which is probably why the Bulldogs made his list as they are only an hour away in Athens. Of course, the three big east blue bloods make the list in Kentucky, North Carolina and Duke as well since he is such a highly coveted recruit so it wouldn't be a battle without those guys in the mix.
