If it wanted to go through the gauntlet of UVA, Virginia, Duke, UNC, Notre Dame and Louisville, Florida State needed to get a win over the Tar Heels with the other two games after that looking like very possible wins. However, it wasn't meant to be as the Tar Heels downed FSU 96-83.

The scoring from UNC in the Dean Dome was just too much as Isaiah Hicks scored 22 and grabbed seven boards to go with Justin Jackson's 22 points. But it was Joel Berry that led all scorers with 26 points. The Tar Heels also shot a scintillating 44.4 percent from beyond the arc while keeping the Noles to 32.1 percent from there.

It was the free throw line that would do in the Noles though as they only hit 12-of-26 from the charity stripe while UNC hit 26-of-37 from the line. Dwayne Bacon and Jonathan Isaac were the leading scorers for FSU with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
FSU must play Notre Dame at home on Wednesday and then again on Saturday against Louisville before moving into a relatively easier part of the schedule.
