North Carolina has been playing pretty well despite not having one its best players available in Theo Pinson. The Tar Heels are 11-2 with their losses coming to ranked opponents in Indiana and Kentucky. However, the team could turn out to be even better once Pinson returns.

That return could be coming soon according to coach Roy Williams who says that he can now participate in "basketball-type activities." He stopped short of giving a hard timeline on his return and sounded like he was expecting Pinson's broken foot to take the full 12 weeks to heal properly.
"He's got to have some time to practice. So they originally said eight to 12 weeks; I think it's going to be close to the 12. I don't make up my mind until the trainers say he can get back on the court."

It's been exactly eight weeks since Pinson fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. If he does need another month to fully recover, UNC would already be about six games into ACC play. If the Tar Heels are playing well it may almost be worth it to redshirt him and not mess with the good chemistry that the team has built up to this point.
The 6'6" wing man averaged 4.5 points and 3.2 rebounds last season and was expected to become a huge part of the starting rotation. That was, until his foot injury.
