The third ranked Kansas Jayhawks beat the Kansas State Wildcats on a wild coast to coast buzzer beating layup on Tuesday night. The shot, though, really should not have counted.
Kansas' Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk gathered the ball at the three point line and clearly took three steps before making the shot as time expired. Those three steps, however, were apparently not so clear to the refs who counted the basket and let it stand even after review. ESPN's Andy Katz explained why the travel call was not subject to review:
Even though that's not a reviewable call, it shouldn't have gotten that far, and Wildcats coach Bruce Weber wasn't happy. "Everybody knows what happened. I mean, it's obvious," Weber said. "The TV people came up to me. Everyone."
The win moves Kansas to 13-1 while Kansas State falls to 12-2.
