Nation's top recruit R.J. Barrett makes huge announcement on his basketball future

This was not a well kept secret.

Canadian superstar recruit R.J. Barrett is far and wide the best recruit in the class of 2019, but he has officially decided to reclassify and move up a class to 2018. Because he's from Canada, Barrett is able to move up classes fairly easily because of the different system our neighbors in the north use.

Barrett was only able to be contacted back in June as he was still considered a junior at the time and he mentioned a few schools who are already coming in on his recruitment.

"The schools that are have been on me the hardest are Arizona, Duke, Oregon, Kentucky, Michigan, Texas, UCLA and Kansas," Barrett said.

Barrett is the kid who almost single-handedly defeated Team USA coached by John Calipari in the FIBA U19 Championship. The 6'7", 185-pound Barrett is now ranked as the No. 3 player in his class behind Marvin Bagley —- who may also move up a class to 2017 —- and viral phenom Zion Williamson.
