Police say a former professional player tried to kill a man and faces a ton of jail time

This doesn't sound good whatsoever.

This is one way to ruin your chances of getting into the NBA. Former D-League player and St. John's University standout Rysheed Jordan was arrested and charged with attempted murder in Philadelphia, Pa. According to WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, the victim of the shooting and another individual were on their way to buy marijuana, when they were confronted by Jordan and two other suspects early Friday morning.

One the suspects told the two individuals, "Give us your money and phones," and both the victim and witness began to run back to their vehicle, according to the police.

As they ran away,  the suspects fired multiple shots, hitting the victim in the right arm.

The pair made it to their vehicle, but when they tried to leave one of the suspects reached into the driver's side window and attempted to turn the car off. The driver was able to escape, but not before one of the suspects fired a shot inside of the car.

Jordan, who was arrested at 1:00 a.m. as recently as Wednesday for an unrelated incident, is also charged with aggravated assault, robbery, criminal conspiracy, simple assault and related offenses.

Jordan left St. John's last year after two seasons, but he was not yet eligible for the 2015 NBA draft. Jordan had been the squad's No. 2 scorer at 14.1 points per game as a sophomore.

Per RealGM.com, he played in the D-League for the Delaware 87ers in 2015-16, averaging just over eight points per contest in 11 games.
