SEC names its player of the year and it is not Ben Simmons

Now that's a shock!

The SEC named its Player of the Year and different All-SEC teams on Tuesday and somehow LSU's Ben Simmons was not named the player of the year. That honor went to Kentucky's Tyler Ulis, but Simmons did win Freshman of the Year. It looks like a copout by the conference considering Simmons was widely thought to be the best player in the country for much of the year and was top three by most people's accounts.

This is the same conference that named eight players to each of its All-SEC teams despite the fact that only five guys can play on the court at the same time.
