Senior Mercer guard fatally shot in Macon, Georgia

Our prayers are with his family.

23-year old Jibri Bryan was shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon. The Telegraph reported that the shooting took place in the parking lot of a convenience store in downtown Macon, Georgia.

The sixth-year senior is from Savannah, Georgia. He started all 35 games last season and averaged 7.8 points per game, but had been limited this year because of a knee injury. The NCAA showed its support on Twitter:

Mercer coach Bob Hoffman said a few words about his senior: "Jibri Bryan was a special young man who was a great contributor to our team and did everything that was asked of him. He was important to us in every way. I loved him and cared about him from the very first time he was on our campus. We grew to be very close over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his special family."

Hopefully Mercer can make it back to the NCAA Tournament and give us some more magic like it did when they knocked off 3-seed Duke in 2014. That would be a wonderful way to end the season as a tribute to Bryan.
