The college basketball world mourns as a young player passes away all too early

This is tragic.

Oklahoma State tragically announced on Thursday that forward Tyrek Coger had passed away after a team workout. Coger was just 21.

Coger had just arrived at Oklahoma State earlier this month. He had just transferred from junior college out of North Carolina, and was looking forward to his first season with the Cowboys.

According to the statement released by Oklahoma State, Coger collapsed after an afternoon work with the team. He was then transferred to Stillwater Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

"Tyrek was excited to be at Oklahoma State and had such passion for the game and was looking forward to being an OSU Cowboy," said head coach Brad Underwood in the school's statement. "Losing a member of the team is like losing a member of the family. But we know our loss pales in comparison to the pain his family is going through."
