This not-so-crazy idea for the SEC Tournament is actually a pretty good one that could happen this year

This idea actually makes sense.

Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari might have had the craziest and dumbest idea regarding the SEC Tournament. He said at the SEC meetings in Destin, Florida that the conference should hold the tournament at the beginning of the season in November.

While there were no coaches who thought that was a good idea, there are others who hope to see a different tournament change take place. The conference is talking about moving the tournament up a day so that the championship doesn't fall on Selection Sunday but rather the day before.

This would allow the selection committee more time to consider seeding for the champion of the tournament and the rest of the conference. Some coaches are pointing to Kentucky getting a lower seed than Texas A&M last season as a prime example of why the extra day would make a difference. Kentucky beat A&M in the championship game last season.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said that the conference will explore the idea of moving the tournament up a day, but that it will be an informal exploration at this point.
