Jeremiah Tilmon is a five-star power forward/center according to 247Sports and he had offers from the likes of Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina and Indiana. However, he chose to go a very different path and choose the Fighting Illini and play for coach John Groce.

Tilmon is the highest ranked recruit Groce has gotten since he became coach in 2012 and the big man said he felt a lot more trust with Illinois and that's one of the reasons he committed.
"I feel that I trust them and that's where my heart is telling me to be," Tilmon said. "I feel that they believe in me and will do everything in their power to get me where I want to be. I have a great relationship with the coaches and Illinois is my home. East St. Louis is my hometown, I can't forget where I came from."
The 6'10", 220-pound big man plays for the the La Lumiere School in Illinois and is rated as the No. 23 recruit in the country by 247, tops in the state of Illinois and the No. 8 center in the country.
