UNC (28-6) took on Virginia (26-7) and played some of its best defense of the season to get a 61-57 win over UVA. The Tar Heel defense held the Cavaliers to 36.5 percent shooting and only let them shoot three free throws. UNC shot 51.1 percent from the floor despite making only three shots from beyond the arc —- all three came from Joel Berry.
Marcus Paige had 13 points and Joel Berry paced UNC with 19 points and got 12 points and nine boards from Brice Johnson. North Carolina made 10 free throws with most coming at the end to put the game away and now UNC is one conference tournament title behind Duke for most all-time in the ACC. UNC undoubtedly wrapped up a No. 1 seed with the win and will find out for sure on Sunday afternoon.
