The LSU women's basketball team recently announced that it will honor Angel Reese on March 3 during the team's senior day game at home against Kentucky — although Reese isn't sure whether she's ready to leave Baton Rouge.
LSU's senior game announcement came via X on Saturday. The women's program wrote, "Creating a legacy of her own. Unapologetically Angel. Angel Reese will be honored on March 3 for senior day against Kentucky ?'??'?." It was accompanied by a video honoring Reese's on- and off-court accomplishments since transferring to LSU from the University of Maryland in 2022.

Her team's announcement and heartfelt video prompted Reese to repost, "Should I stay, should I go? I don't know ??'??'?" — which seems to indicate that the social media star is hung up on whether to go pro or return to LSU after this 2024 season concludes.
What's certain is that Reese has nothing left to prove at LSU. After winning the 2023 national championship against longtime rival Caitlin Clark and Iowa, the Tigers are now 25-4 in the 2024 season and appear poised to make another deep run into the postseason.
In addition, Reese — who is averaging 19.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game this season — is almost guaranteed to be a top 10 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, if that's the route she decides to take.
So what's holding Reese back from going pro?
Well, we know that given her current NIL (name/image/likeness) deals, Reese already makes more money than most in the WNBA — so she wouldn't be going to the WNBA for the money.
It's also evident that Reese is relishing her time at LSU and doesn't seem too keen to leave the college life and celebrity status she has acquired in Baton Rouge behind quite yet.
We would imagine that the outcome of LSU's current season will weigh heavily on Reese's ultimate decision. If LSU can't become the first repeat national champions since UConn produced a four-peat from 2013-2016, then Reese might want to capture another title in 2025.
Then again, if LSU does go back-to-back, perhaps she'll want to seek a three-peat.
All of which is to say that Reese is in a win-win situation.
Since the 2024 WNBA draft is on April 15, NCAA players have until March — or, if their team is still alive in the postseason, until 48 hours after their last game — to declare for the draft. So we'll see what Reese decides within the next month or so.
