The 6-2, 230 pound native of Stephens City, Va. originally commited to Penn State in November 2015 and seemed a lock to join James Franklin's squad after an official visit to Happy Valley on Friday. But Sunday, he decommitted from the Nittany Lions and immediately committed to Va Tech. He gave no reason for the reversal.
"After much thought and prayer, it is in mine and my family's best interest to decommit from Penn State University," Rivers wrote. "...I will now announce my commitment to Virginia Tech!"
