Dabo Swinney Impresses 5-Star Recruit in Bizarre Way

Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney paid a visit to five-star receiver TJ Moore, and he showed off his strength to impress him.

Dabo Swinney had been considered a potential candidate to become the next Alabama Crimson Tide head coach, but after his efforts to bring in a recruit to Clemson, we should've known he was never leaving the Tigers.

While visiting five-star wide receiver TJ Moore, Swinney — wearing a button-down shirt — put up 22 reps on the bench press at 135 pounds. Hey, whatever it takes, right?

"45 minutes after being ranked a 5 I had a Great in home visit with @Coach_Grisham @CoachGRiley and coach swinney. To end the night Coach Swinney threw up 22 reps on the bench," Moore wrote on X with a crying laughing emoji.

Remember, Swinney is a 54-year-old man, but he had to impress his recruit.

Moore is one of the top wide receiver prospects. The Tampa, Fla., native is ranked No. 4 in the nation and is easily the top recruit from the upcoming Clemson class.

"A big-play wide receiver with exceptional hands that can stretch the field," his bio reads on 247Sports. "Should be viewed as a potential WR1 at the Power Five level given body control, run-after-catch capability and elite hand-eye coordination."

Moore picked Clemson over schools such as Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Appalachian State, Arkansas and Arizona State, among others.

"He not only measured better than expected (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) but produced big gain after big gain as he used his linear burst to create separation from blue-chip defensive backs before tracking the football like a seasoned vet," 247Sports' Andrew Ivins said. "Moore reminds of all the dynamic wide receivers Clemson used to have on its roster."

The Tigers finished the regular 2023 season 8-4 and took down the Kentucky Wildcats in the Gator Bowl 38-35.

Moore has been likened to former Tigers receiver Tee Higgins, thanks to his 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame.

Now, we'll look to see how Moore performs on the field for the Tigers in a year that they'll hope to rebound in the Atlantic Coast Conference and reach the 12-team College Football Playoff for a chance at a national championship.
