Swinney on Auburn: Their offense is still a mystery

I don't think coach Malzahn knows what he has either.

Coaches from the south gathered at the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge golf tournament this week. That included Clemson head man Dabo Swinney who was already being asked about his first game of the season in September against Auburn. Dabo doesn't exactly know what his team looks like considering a lot of the freshmen he recruited haven't hit campus yet. But people still want to know how he thinks they will fare against their first SEC opponent of the season.

"They're talented," Swinney said of Gus Malzahn's squad on Monday. "They're a really talented team. Go back and look at their recruits over the last two or three years."

Auburn finished 7-6 while the orange and purple Tigers finished 14-1 and nearly won a national title. Swinney also talked about how Auburn's offense is pretty much a mystery and that his staff will have to plan accordingly for it.

"We still don't know much about them offensively because we're not sure who the quarterback is," Swinney said. "We're continuing to prepare for what they do, and openers are always tough because there's always new faces for both sides. There's a lot of unknowns."

Swinney called the game a "tough opener" and both teams would very much like to get their seasons started off on the right foot with a win.
