The nation's best quarterback just got bigger...and faster

As if he wasn't a monster before...

Deshaun Watson was a scary dude to game plan for last season and it looks like he might be even worse this year for opposing defenses. Last season final numbers as quarterback of the Clemson Tigers were 4,104 yards passing, 1,105 yards rushing, 35 passing touchdowns, and 12 rushing TDs.

Quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter met with the media on Tuesday to talk about his prized possession in Watson and how he's looked this offseason. Not only has Watson been going to camps and the QB Retreat to get better, but he's been putting on weight to be more durable for the upcoming season.

Watson has put on weight since the national title game and Streeter says it's more than 15 pounds.

"If you look back at that game, I think he played against Alabama at about 202 pounds," Streeter said. "He comes in the other day and he's 218 pounds, and that's a good thing. Our goal for him - for starting fall camp - was 215 so he's further along than we wanted. If he can maintain that 215 throughout the season, then that's what we want. I would be very pleased."

So he probably got a little slower then with all the new weight, right? Not according to Streeter who says that he might be even faster than before!

"His legs are thicker, and he's added good weight," he said. "If you looked at him in the spring, he was faster then than he was at any time last fall. I think he's probably even faster now."

I don't know how this is possible, but this certainly makes for a scary proposition to defenses to try and stop him. If he decides to run he won't be sliding as often as he did last year. We might see a truck stick or two with the defender on the business end of it.
