Florida State running back Dalvin Cook is entering his junior season in Tallahassee, Fla. with very high expectations. Before his sophomore season was even over, he broke former 'Nole great Warrick Dunn's single-season rushing record. He enters 2016 coming off of a 1,691-yard, 19 touchdown season, and is one of the early favorites to win the Heisman Trophy next season. Cook will also begin next season holding an ACC record.
As first pointed out by Tomahawk Nation, Cook currently leads the ACC in rushing yards per game — a figure that's the most in the entire history of the conference. Entering the 2016 season, Cook is racking up an average of 107.96 yards per game. The number gives him an edge on current NFL RB Giovanni Bernard, who had 107.89 YPG during his years at UNC.
This season will likely be Cook's last, given his marvelous two seasons at FSU, and an already soaring NFL draft stock. We'll see if he can hold onto the rushing average for the entirety of 2016.
