Florida State Fans Go After ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit

The updated 2023-24 College Football Playoff was released on Tuesday, and ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit had some thoughts on one school in particular that's drawing the ire of their fan base.

That team? The Florida State Seminoles are the No. 4 team.

"It's not 'They're undefeated, they should go in!'" Herbstreit said on the broadcast.

Herbstreit remains committed to his stance that Florida State might not be one of the best four teams, even if they go undefeated by defeating Louisville in the ACC Championship. That said, he resigned to the fact that they'll likely make it in if they beat Louisville.

"I find it very hard to imagine, based on these rankings, that if Florida State were to win, even without Jordan Travis, Texas or Alabama would have a chance to go by them. So I think based on what we just saw, if you're Florida State, it looks like you're four quarters away from controlling your own destiny and securing a spot in the playoff even without your guy Jordan Travis."

Well, his comments drew some critiques from the Seminole faithful.

"Florida State fans had plenty to say on social media and let the college football analyst know about it, tagging him in posts," Noles247 wrote.

"As a Florida State fan, I sure am glad we are #4 again and also that @KirkHerbstreit opinion doesn't matter on who gets in," a user wrote.

"Kirk Herbstreit can't handle Florida State being in the top 4. Rent free," another user wrote.

"I vote to have someone remove the FSU HELMET from @KirkHerbstreit  house or where ever he keeps filming ... you don't get to hate /bash on FSU and think you get to rep our stuff !!! FSU is the only school you are hating on !!!" someone else wrote.

The Seminoles and Cardinals will square off this Saturday, December 2, live from Bank of America Stadium.
