UPDATE: Here is the actual quote from Bowden: "Well, I think it's a consensus that Jameis Winston among Florida State fans that he was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to the university." He then continued: "He won a lot of ball games — probably one of the best football players that ever attended Florida State, but he hurt himself off the field. The good news is that he's young enough to get over that. He just can't make those junior high school decisions that he made when he was in college."

As you see in the tweet below, Finebaum left out "in a lot of ways." That definitely lessens the blow that Bowden seemed to deliver.

Jameis Winston will go down as one of the most decorated athletes in Florida State history. He won a Heisman Trophy, helped lead Florida State to a national championship and only lost one game in his career.
But his time at Florida State was marred by off-the-field issues ranging from getting a hookup at Publix with crab legs to yelling an obscenity while standing on a table to being involved in a sexual assault investigation.
Florida State legend Bobby Bowden spit flames on the Paul Finebaum Show on Tuesday with his comments on Winston's behavior and the image he created of himself. Here is what he said about the quarterback:
"I think it's a consensus among FSU fans and boosters that he was an embarrassment to the University" - Bobby Bowden on Jameis Winston

I don't know where Bowden is getting this from, but the former Noles QB seems to be loved by most of the Florida State faithful. So, Bowden's comments seem a bit off-base. Sure, outside of Tallahassee, Winston is not well-liked by the majority of the public.
There is no doubt about it that Bowden will get major heat from boosters and fans for these comments. Perhaps Bowden is a bit bitter for the way he was ousted from the university.
