Florida State defensive end named to FWAA All-American list

Now that's an achievement.

Florida State is going to have plenty of talent heading into the NFL Draft this year, but the most encouraging sign is that some of the underclassmen are getting serious recognition as well. That starts with freshman defensive end Brian Burns who was named to the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America team.

Burns had 24 tackles and led all freshman in the Football Bowl Subdivision with 9.5 sacks this past season. He was part of a defense that led the nation in sacks (before the National Championship Game) and was No. 20 in tackles for loss.
