Florida State defender is reportedly no longer with the team

FSU can't afford any more loses.

Florida State linebacker Sh'Mar Kilby-Lane is no longer with the team, according to Tomahawk Nation.

Kilby-Lane missed the entire 2016 season due to being academically ineligible, and he contributed on special teams during his freshman year with the Seminoles in 2015.

Kilby-Lane was a member of the 2015 recruiting class at Florida State. He was a four-star recruit from Hallandale, Florida.

According to 247Sports, Kilby-Lane was the No. 21 outside linebacker in his class.

Kilby-Lane is expected to enroll at a junior college for the 2017 season.

Now, Florida State only has six scholarship players who can play inside linebacker. The Seminoles are expected to compete for a national title next season, but the one area of weakness for the team could be at linebacker.

Florida State has starters Matthew Thomas and Ro'Derrick Hoskins returning, but depth behind them is suspect at this point. The Seminoles still should be fine, and their first unit will be among the best in the country. But if they have any injuries at linebacker, they could be in some trouble.
