Florida State survives gauntlet of games and makes history in the process

A huge win.

Florida State beat Louisville 73-68 on Saturday and ended a brutal six-game stretch that included games against Notre Dame, UNC, Duke, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The only loss was to North Carolina in the Dean Dome during that stretch and the Seminoles became the third team in the last 27 years in the ACC to go through a stretch of six games featuring ranked teams.

It became the first team to go through a stretch like that and come out with a winning record. Maryland went 0-6 in the 1992-93 season and N.C. State went 2-4 against a stretch like that in 1979-80. Florida State went 5-1 and that puts the Noles in great position over the next few games at Syracuse and at Georgia Tech and at home against Clemson. The Seminoles should be on the two-seed line for the NCAA Tournament right now and Joe Lunardi's next round of bracketology will likely confirm that.

Jonathan Isaac paced the Noles with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Dwayne Bacon also had 16 points. 7'1", 204-pound behemoth Michael Ojo also chipped in 10 points and six boards in only 15 minutes of play. Terance Mann also scored 15 points and had two blocks.
