Report: FSU star Derwin James recovering after procedure to prepare fracture

According to Warchant.com, star Florida State safety Derwin James underwent a minor procedure on his foot a couple of weeks ago. The surgery was to repair a small fracture, and the recovery time was expected to four to five weeks.

The timing of the procedure should allow James to be healthy for most of fall camp. He is not expected to miss any games this upcoming season.

As a true freshman last season, James emerged as one of college football's top defenders. In 13 games, James recorded 91 total tackles (9.5 TFL), four pass break ups, and 4.5 sacks. James helped lead a Seminole defense that was ninth in scoring defense in 2015 and 19th in total defense.

Florida State opens the season on September 5 — this year's Labor Day game — against Ole Miss.
