Florida State enters 2016 with some pretty high expectations. Returning arguably the best running back in the country in junior Dalvin Cook, along with talented weapons alongside him as well as a pretty stacked defense. The one question mark for the 'Noles however is at the quarterback position. Florida State has Everett Golson no longer, and redshirt senior Sean Maguire didn't participate in spring ball due to a fractured left ankle he suffered during the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.
ESPN college football analyst was asked on Twitter about the 'Noles' fate in 2016 — he stated that essentially things will all come down to how the quarterback position plays out.
Maguire played in eight games with five starts for the Seminoles last year, and earned a 4-2 record as Florida State's quarterback during his redshirt junior season. His stats included 1,520 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions, along with a 59.3 completion percentage on the season. If Maguire can manage the offense — which is really the bulk of what he'll be asked to do barring an injury to Cook — Florida State may be looking at a College Football Playoff bid come December.
