The 'WakeyLeaks' scandal has been stirring up trouble since mid-December and, as of Tuesday, the fallout has reached another member of the active college football coaching profession. Current Army defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and former assistant coach Ray McCartney "obtained non-public information and took actions to conceal the information and its source", according to the university, and Bateman has received punishment as a result.

Football Scoop brings word of a $25,000 fine and a two-week suspension for Bateman, and Army's official statement included the following from U.S. Military Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Robert L. Caslen, Jr. on the matter:
"Our commitment is to foster a culture of excellence and winning in everything we do. It does not mean that we win at all costs. Rather, it means winning in accordance with our values and who we are as an institution and a nation. When we win, we will do so honorably, remaining true to the values and standards that define us."
Former Wake Forest assistant and broadcaster Tommy Elrod caused the scandal by leaking private information about the Demon Deacons and both Georgia and Louisville have handed out punishment to assistant coaches as part of the fallout. While the suspension for Bateman won't bleed over into any real football activity for the 2017 season, Army will be without the face of its defense for a bit and the 'WakeyLeaks' mess just won't die.
